The Water & Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO) presents an exciting opportunity for a Southern Services Trainee Manager within our Vieux-Fort Office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage designated water and wastewater operations in full compliance with the Company’s standards, policies and procedures.
  • Lead the implementation of the Company’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with operational plans.
  • Prepare analytical reports to guide the expansion, modernization, and improvement of water and wastewater facilities and systems to maximize efficiency and significantly reduce operating costs.
  • Oversee the efficient allocation and utilization of company assets including vehicles, accounting for the effective distribution and proper use of inventory.
  • Manage personnel within the Southern Services Department in accordance with staff rules and regulations, as well as health and safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Motivate and foster a supportive and collaborative team environment, maintaining high levels of morale and engagement.
  • Implement relevant training programs to strengthen technical skills, enhance knowledge, and increase productivity and performance.
  • Conduct annual perform reviews.
  • Prepare the annual and monthly capital and maintenance budgets and prudently administer the approved budget.
  • Identify funding opportunities for operational and institutional improvement.
  • Develop and participate in monthly maintenance work plans: assign work activities, monitor workflow, review and evaluate work programs and conduct annual performance appraisals.
  • Ensure customer complaints and inquiries are resolved efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the overall customer experience and the public image of the Southern Services Department.
  • Represent the Department at management, stakeholder and community meetings as directed.
  • Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by Management.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Sanitary or Environmental Engineering, Business
    or Public Administration or related field, plus three (3) years managerial /supervisory
    experience in water utility maintenance.
    Or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Sanitary or Environmental Engineering, Business or Public Administration or related field plus five (5) years managerial/supervisory experience in water utility maintenance.

  • Strong written, verbal, analytical and presentation skills.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to strategically interact with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational, project management and time management skills.
  • Self motivated with a positive and professional approach to management.
  • Ability to develop and manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Understanding of financial planning and budgeting processes
  • Familiarity with utility operations (water and wastewater systems) is an asset
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools.

Note: Candidates must own a personal vehicle and hold a valid Driver’s License, as this is a
traveling post.

Remuneration
This appointment is contractual. The compensation package is in accordance with the terms and
conditions stipulated by the Water & Sewerage Company Inc.
