Place & Modality Local Position, Full time; based in Grenada.
Duration: August 2026 until June 2027
Duties
- Serve as Senior Energy Advisor embedded within the Renewable Energy Division of the Ministry of Climate Resilience, the Environment and Renewable Energy, providing technical and strategic support on renewable energy, energy efficiency, climate resilience, and related priority areas.
- Support the Ministry in advancing its renewable energy and energy efficiency agenda, including policy implementation, technical assessments, stakeholder coordination, and project development initiatives.
- Provide technical advisory support on renewable energy integration, grid readiness, energy efficiency measures, climate resilience, and investment- enabling frameworks aligned with national priorities.
- Support the coordination and implementation of activities under Euroclima and other European Union and or Germany funded energy programs in Grenada.
- Facilitate coordination with key stakeholders and support technical studies, consultations, workshops, and capacity-building activities advancing the Ministry’s renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable development and investment objectives.
- Contribute to the identification and development of European investment and financing opportunities for renewable energy and climate-related initiatives, including support for project preparation and investment readiness.
- Support the management and coordination of consultants, service providers, and project activities as required under Euroclima and other European Union and/or Germany funded programs.
- Contribute to reporting, monitoring, knowledge management, and communication activities in line with Ministry, GIZ, and donor requirements.
- Represent the Ministry and/or project in relevant technical meetings, coordination platforms, and regional or international events, as required.
Profile Requirements (I)
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering, energy engineering, renewable energy, energy economics, energy planning, or another relevant technical field. Candidates with related STEM backgrounds, such as geoscience, environmental science, petroleum engineering, data analytics or business analytics, may also be considered where they demonstrate relevant energy sector experience.
Professional Experience & Technical Knowledge
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering, energy engineering, renewable energy, energy economics, energy planning, or another relevant technical field. Candidates with related STEM backgrounds, such as geoscience, environmental science, petroleum engineering, data analytics or business analytics, may also be considered where they demonstrate relevant energy sector experience.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the energy sector, preferably in renewable energy, power systems, electricity planning, energy efficiency, battery storage, grid integration or energy transition topics.
- At least 3 years of practical experience working with power sector stakeholders, including ministries, utilities, regulators, private sector actors, development partners or regional institutions
- At least 3 years of experience in stakeholder engagement, coordination of multi-stakeholder processes, workshops, consultations or technical working groups.
Profile requirements (II)
Skills & Competences
- Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills, with the ability to prepare technical inputs, reports, presentations and briefing notes.
- Fluent written and oral knowledge of English.
- Willingness to travel within Grenada, within the Caribbean region and, where required, internationally.
- Candidate must be a citizen of Grenada, hold a valid work permit for Grenada, or hold a valid CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) Skills Certificate
Desirable Qualifications
- Very good working knowledge of MS Office and standard digital communication tools. Experience with energy modelling, GIS, data analysis or project management tools would be an asset.
