Purchasing Officer 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Facilitate the purchasing process to ensure goods are purchased in the optimum quantities (within the company’s guidelines) at the best possible price. 
  • Monitor inventory levels and movement for each brand or commodity at least once monthly to provide necessary purchase orders. 
  • Ensure all purchase suggestions and orders are reviewed, signed, and processed in a timely manner. 
  • Develop and maintain an efficient tracking system for all orders. 
  • Submit licenses and or permits for processing purchases. 
  • Establish effective communication and working relationships with internal and external customers, monitoring and checking periodically to ensure that they are satisfied, and that complaints and inquiries are resolved in a timely manner. Cost shipments received on a timely and accurate basis. 
  • Ensure all computerized warrants, receipts and adjustments are received and are accurate. 
  • Provide costing for bond transfers. 
  • Cost and submit invoices for local purchases. 
  • Administrative duties to include but limited to filing reports, stock taking and other duties within job scope. 
  • Perform any other duties which may be required for the efficient and effective operation of the department. 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE 

  • An associate degree or Diploma in Business Management or a related discipline. 
  • At least two (2) – five (5) years’ experience in a Purchasing environment is an asset.
