Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Production, Treatment and Quality Trainee Manager, Water & Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO).

The Production Treatment & Quality (Trainee) Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing the entire water and waste water production processes, the treatment facilities and quality control measures. This position requires a deep understanding of production management, water treatment processes, and quality assurance to ensure the consistent delivery of safe and compliant water to our customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
LEADERSHIP & SUPERVISION

  • Lead direct develop and drive team performance towards the attainment of the departments goals.
  • Prepare and implement the Departments Strategic Plan, Operating Budget and Work Objectives.
  • Set targets and monitor for consistency in operational output
  • Facilitate training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the team, enable efficiency and effectiveness and promote a sound work ethic.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the department
  • Effect strict and prudent management of the operating Budget
  • Monitor individual performance and undertake staff evaluations on a biannual basis
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers and stakeholders
  • Ensure that in the conduct of the company’s business and relationships it is not exposed or subjected to liabilities or legal jeopardies.
  • Support and engage activities that reward outstanding staff performance on an annual basis

PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT

  • Develop and implement production plans, schedules and strategies to efficiently meet and /or surpass water demand
  • Optimize production processes to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs and improve resource utilization.
  • Collaborate with cross- functional teams to ensure seamless coordination between production, maintenance and logistics
  • Develop a proactive approach in the identification and management of operational threats problem identification and solving
  • Stay updated on industry trends quality control methods and emerging technologies.

WATER TREATMENT

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of water treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards World Health Organization (WHO) Guidelines and /or International Standards and company policies to ensure the consistent delivery of high quality water.
  • Implement and update treatment processes – sampling and analysis of water systems for physical, chemical and bacteriological parameters and update treatment processes to address evolving water quality challenges
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address any issues related to treatment, equipment and process

QUALITY ASSURANCE

  • Establish and enforce quality control measures to comply with World Health Organization (WHO) Guidelines and/or International Standards to ensure the consistent production and treatment of high quality water.
  • Conduct routine sampling and testing of water to monitor and verify compliance and adherence with guidelines, regulatory and internal quality standard.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive quality management system, including documentation and reporting protocols.

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

  • Stay abreast with regulations related to water production and treatment and ensure compliance with industry regulations, quality standards, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation required for regulatory compliance
  • Ensure awareness and adherence to all relevant Environmental Health and Safety Standards that impact the Company’s operations
  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies and participate in audits to demonstrate compliance

DATA ANALYSIS AND REPORTING

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive data management system including documentation and reporting protocols to guide decision making
  • Maintain accurate records and develop accurate reporting mechanisms
  • Collect and analyze data related to product or material quality to inform on decisions related to purchasing.
  • Prepare detailed reports on quality control findings, trends, and improvement recommendations.

ASSET MANAGEMENT & UPKEEP

  • Ensure that all company assets including equipment gadgets machinery tools and materials that are utilized during the course of your duties are safe and duly accounted for at all times.
  • Ensure that all equipment and tools are properly serviced and in good working condition. Where applicable apply a scheduled approach to the maintenance of high utility items.

  • Knowledge of computer software for word processing, use of spreadsheets and related applications including chemical and scientific databases
  • Required to uphold high ethical standards of confidentiality and reliability in the performance of your duties
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • A Master’s Degree in Chemistry, or Natural or Environmental Engineering or
    Water Resources Management with emphasis in Chemistry or related field plus
    three (3) years’ Managerial experience

OR

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Natural Environmental Engineering or
    Water Resources Management with an emphasis in Chemistry or related field
    and at least five (5) years’ experience in water production, treatment and quality
    management.
