Operations and Marketing Officer 

Job Summary

The Operations and Marketing Officer is responsible for the development and supervision of the operations and marketing strategies for the organisation. The main objective is to provide support to the Chamber’s mission by coordinating day-to-day operational duties, enhancing member engagement, and executing strategic marketing initiatives. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily operational activities, ensuring smooth execution of events, meetings, and projects.
  • Assist in managing the Chamber’s membership database, handling inquiries, renewals, and member communications.
  • Support the planning and execution of industry events, conferences, and networking sessions.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor industry trends and provide insights to inform strategic planning and policy development.
  • Liaise with government agencies, industry partners, and other stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
  • Assist with the accounting-related functions of the organisation, which will include, but not be limited to payables, receivables, and cash balancing.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the Chamber’s initiatives, events, and services.
  • Set marketing objectives to ensure the profitability, vitality, and image of the Chamber of Shipping.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, industry publications, and partners to enhance the Chamber’s profile.
  • Ensure that the Chamber of Shipping brand meets expectations through the use of marketing trends and monitoring feedback from stakeholders.
  • Engage with members to understand their needs, gather feedback, and enhance the value of membership.
  • Organise and manage member-focused events, workshops, and webinars.
  • Assist in the development of member resources, including guides, toolkits, and industry updates.
  • Act as a point of contact for members, addressing inquiries and providing information on Chamber activities and services. 
  • Any other responsibilities may reasonably be required from time to time as assigned by the CEO (Chief Executive Officer).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field with a minor qualification in Accounting and Finance.

Experience/ Skills:

  • Five (5) years of experience in operations, marketing, or a similar role, preferably in the maritime, logistics, or trade industry.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to communicate clearly. 
  • Effective decision–making.
  • Ability to multitask in a complex and demanding environment. 
  • Strategic and creative thinker with proven experience of working on diverse and wide-ranging communication strategies, including all forms of media.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools, social media platforms, and content management systems (CMS).
  • Familiarity with CRM software and membership databases is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Interest in the maritime industry and willingness to learn about shipping policies and regulations.
  • Experience in managing websites.
  • Proficient in the use of IT (Information Technology) Systems, including Microsoft Office Packages.

Remuneration
