Job Title: Inventory Team Lead

Job Purpose
The Inventory Team Lead will support the Chief Financial Accountant by providing day-to-day execution, supervision, and control of inventory operations across assigned warehouses or locations. The role ensures accurate stock handling, disciplined adherence to inventory processes, and timely resolution of operational variances. The Inventory Team Lead translates inventory policies and controls into consistent operational practice, leading frontline teams to deliver high levels of accuracy, accountability, and efficiency.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
• Supervise, allocate, and coordinate daily activities of inventory staff and supervisors
• Coach, mentor, and develop team members to build capability and efficiency
• Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback
• Support the development of a disciplined, accountable, and high-performing team culture
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and operational standards

Inventory Management & Control
• Maintain accurate stock levels
• Oversee cycle counts, physical stock counts, and reconciliations
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, variances, and stock losses
• Ensure proper storage, labeling, and organization of stock across all locations
• Track recurring issues and implement corrective actions at the operational level
• Maintain a strong focus on shrinkage reduction and stock integrity

Process & Compliance Oversight
• Contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of inventory management procedures and internal controls
• Ensure compliance with company policies, operational standards, and safety regulations
• Support internal and external audits related to inventory

Reporting & Analysis
• Prepares and submits inventory adjustments, including stock levels, variances, turnover, and shrinkage reports for review and approval.
• Provide insights for demand planning, procurement, and operational decision-making
• Analyse and escalate trends and operational issues to the Senior Accountant, for analysis and decision-making

Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with Purchasing, Warehouse, Sales, and Finance teams
• Align stock levels with sales forecasts, operational plans, and seasonal demands
• Support stock allocation and replenishment decisions to optimise availability
Systems & Data Integrity
• Ensure accurate and timely entry of inventory transactions in the ERP/WMS system
• Validate system data against physical stock and resolve inconsistencies
• Report system issues or inefficiencies impacting inventory accuracy or operations

Skills, Experience & Qualifications
• Diploma in Inventory, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3 years’ experience in inventory, warehouse, or stock control operations, preferably in a distribution or FMCG environment.
• Proven experience leading or supervising inventory or warehouse teams.
• Strong working knowledge of inventory control processes, cycle counts, and stock reconciliation.
• Experience using inventory management systems / ERP software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Warehouse, Purchasing, and Sales teams.
