JOB TITLE: HSSE Manager

JOB SUMMARY:
The HSSE Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the organization’s Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental programs across all store locations and support facilities. The role ensures compliance with local laws, corporate standards, and international best practices while fostering a proactive HSSE culture that promotes the well-being of employees, customers, contractors, and visitors.

The position provides leadership, direction, and strategic oversight for all HSSE initiatives, ensuring that risk is effectively managed, incidents are minimized, and continuous improvement is embedded across operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the
following:
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and execute the company’s HSSE strategy, annual objectives and improvement plans in alignment with organizational goals, regulatory requirements and corporate standards.
  • Provide HSSE guidance and support to senior management, Operations and other functions, translating technical requirements into practical business solutions.
  • Lead and develop the HSSE team and coordinate relevant resources to ensure consistent implementation of HSSE programs across all locations
  • Promote a proactive HSSE culture by engaging leaders and frontline teams, reinforcing accountability and using leading indicators and site observations to strengthen risk management.

Policy & Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive HSSE policies, procedures, and standards across all locations
  • Ensure compliance with national legislation, industry codes of practice, and internal audit requirements.
  • Conduct periodic policy reviews and updates based on changes in operations or regulations.

Risk Management & Auditing

  • Identify and evaluate potential health, safety, security, and environmental risks, and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Lead site audits, inspections, and compliance assessments, ensuring timely corrective actions.
  • Monitor trends and incidents to identify systemic issues and opportunities for improvement.

Incident Management

  • Oversee incident reporting, investigation, and root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinate emergency response and crisis management planning and drills.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and external agencies on reportable incidents or compliance matters.

Training & Awareness

  • Develop and deliver HSSE training programs, safety campaigns, and toolbox talks to employees and contractors.
  • Promote awareness initiatives to foster a safety-first culture across the organization.

Environmental & Sustainability Programs

  • Monitor environmental performance and ensure corrective action is taken where standards or legal requirements are not met.
  • Support sustainability and environmental improvement projects in collaboration with Operations Massy Group and other relevant functions.

Reporting & Performance Management

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly HSSE reports for executive management.
  • Track KPIs such as incident frequency, audit compliance, and training completion rates.
  • Develop annual HSSE objectives and performance improvement plans.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Risk
    Management, or a related discipline.
  • NEBOSH/OSHA Certification required; First Aid, Fire Safety, and Environmental Management certifications are assets.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in HSSE management
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local HSSE legislation, emergency response planning, and environmental standards.
  • Proficient in risk assessment methodologies, incident management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Marketing certification is considered an advantage.Proven experience in a senior leadership role with a focus on marketing, CSR, corporate communication, and customer service.’
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic marketing and communication plans.
  • Strong understanding of market dynamics, industry trends, and customer preferences
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data-driven insights to inform decision- making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Relevant experience in HSSE would be an advantage
  • Exceptional strategic planning and execution skills.
