Interview Preparation Guide
Here are some practical tips to help you prepare ahead of your interview:
1. Research the company
- Research helps ensure that the company’s mission and culture align with your own interests, career goals, and values.
2. Read the Job Description Carefully
- Make a list of the skills, experience, or qualifications you have that prove that you’re a good candidate, using specific examples where possible.
3. Prepare for the typical job interview questions
- Be prepared to answer questions like Why should we hire you? What’s your biggest weakness? Where do you see yourself in 5 years? If I call your current/previous employer, what would he/she say about you? Tell me about a challenge you overcame.
4. Be Prepared to sell yourself.
- Take some time before the interview to write down a short outline that sums up your professional life, making sure to highlight any positions or experience that seem particularly relevant to the job.
5. Prepare a few questions in advance
- Demonstrate that you’re eager to learn, interested in the position and the company, and have a general understanding of what they need and what they do through a series of thoughtful questions. Consider questions like: What would a typical day in this position look like? What challenges could this position help solve? Can you share some examples of the types of projects this position would work on?
6. Is your interview remote?
- Find a clean quiet space with adequate lighting, ensure that your webcam is at eye level and your internet connection is stable.
