JOB TITLE: Network and Wireless Engineer

WORKING HOURS: Agreed for each assignment

JOB SUMMARY

CaribSys invites expressions of interest from experienced independent network and wireless engineers and specialist firms for project-based infrastructure work in Saint Lucia.

The successful applicant will support infrastructure discovery, network assessments, wireless surveys and technical documentation. This work requires strong practical engineering skills, clear reporting and the ability to turn findings into recommendations that clients can understand and act on.

Assignments will be confirmed subject to client approval and an agreed scope and schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct onsite discovery to establish the existing network environment, available documentation and areas requiring further assessment.

  • Identify and document network equipment, access points, firewalls, switches, racks and connectivity between buildings.

  • Review switching, routing, VLANs, PoE capacity, fibre uplinks and network dependencies.

  • Conduct scoped Wi-Fi surveys to identify coverage gaps, interference and connectivity issues, and produce measured heat maps.

  • Review firewall configurations, VPNs, network segmentation and failover arrangements within the authorised scope.

  • Produce equipment inventories, physical and logical network diagrams, rack layouts and clear technical reports.

  • Recommend improvements and prioritise findings according to operational impact, urgency and dependencies.

  • Help define assessment requirements, delivery effort and practical upgrade options.

  • Maintain project updates, action items and documentation using CaribSys-approved collaboration and project management tools.

  • Work professionally with client teams and obtain approval before making changes to production systems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated experience assessing and supporting enterprise wired and wireless networks.

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Cisco switching and routing.

  • Practical experience with Fortinet FortiGate or comparable enterprise firewalls, including policies, NAT, VPNs and segmentation.

  • Experience conducting professional wireless surveys and producing measured heat maps.

  • Experience with HPE Aruba access points and switches would be an advantage.

  • Familiarity with Cisco Meraki, Sophos Firewall or other enterprise security platforms would be an asset.

  • Proven ability to produce accurate network diagrams, inventories and written recommendations.

  • Experience supporting hospitality environments or networks spanning multiple buildings would be an advantage.

  • Relevant networking, wireless or vendor certifications are desirable. Equivalent practical experience will be considered.

ONSITE AND REMOTE WORK REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must:

  • Be available to attend agreed onsite assignments in Saint Lucia.

  • Have a suitable computer, reliable internet and equipment for remote meetings and reporting.

  • Identify the professional wireless survey software and equipment available to them, including any additional rental or licensing requirements.

  • Work independently, meet agreed deadlines and check deliverables for accuracy.

  • Communicate promptly about access restrictions, missing information or issues affecting delivery.

  • Use approved company systems and protect client configurations, credentials and network records.

Assignments may involve access to sensitive business and network information. Selected contractors will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement and follow CaribSys’s information-handling procedures.
