Job Title: Accounts Clerk
Reports to: Accounts/Operations Manager
Position Summary
The Accounts Clerk will provide administrative and clerical support to the accounting department. The role involves assisting with the preparation and maintenance of financial records, reconciling accounts, and supporting various accounting functions to ensure accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record and maintain accurate financial transactions using accounting software.
- Perform daily data entry of invoices, receipts, and other financial documentation.
- Reconcile bank statements, vendor accounts, and customer accounts.
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions in a timely manner.
- Monitor and follow up on past-due accounts and initiate collections procedures.
- Verify accuracy of invoices, statements, and payment records.
- Support month-end and year-end financial close processes.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports and documentation.
- Maintain organized accounting records and secure documentation.
- Assist internal departments and respond to inquiries related to accounting data.
- Liaise with vendors, customers, and service providers on billing and payment matters.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory standards.
- Suggest improvements to financial processes and internal systems where applicable.
Qualifications & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s Degree or certificate in Accounting preferred.
- 1–2 years’ experience in an accounting or clerical role.
- Knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) is an advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other office applications.
