Overview
United Insurance Agents (Saint Lucia) Limited, agents for CG United Insurance, seeks a highly organized, self-driven, and team-oriented professional for the role of Underwriting Manager. This individual will oversee the underwriting process with precision, make sound risk assessments, and foster a collaborative, results-focused team environment.
Qualifications/Abilities
- Professional insurance qualifications and/or Bachelor’s degree in Administration or insurance related field.
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in insurance field.
- Sound knowledge of Financial Services regulations, current industry trends and procedure.
- Excellent written and spoken English. Fluency in local creole considered an asset.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office tools.
- Excellent negotiating skills and analytical abilities.
- Excellent time management, planning, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Enthusiastic attitude, adaptable to new or changing circumstances, professional demeanor, self-motivated, creative, meticulous, and innovative.
Principal Responsibilities
- Ensure that all relevant daily operations of the company fall within the scope of all the legislation governing the operation of the agency and its principal.
- Ensure budgeted targets are met.
- Ensure profitable growth is achieved through prudent assessment of risks, effective management of claims and monitoring spending.
- Supervise Underwriting Division and assist in general department maters when required.
- Induct, train, and develop all staff through planned systematic training.
- Establish and build relationships with existing and potential clients that have prospective business.
- Maintain existing relationships with brokers and clients to protect existing books and achieve required growth.
- Provide feedback to management and employees to ensure quality service and underwriting standards are maintained.
- Co-ordinate any marketing campaigns to prospects.
- To deputize for the Assistant Manager in his/her absence or unavailability.

- A clean Police Record
- Driver’s license considered an asset.
